The staff of the Education Department at Geary Community Hospital is committed to meeting the education needs of patients, community, and hospital staff. Education is provided through individual appointment, classroom setting, or community group presentation.
Christine Jones, RN, is the Education Coordinator. Christine has a Masters Degree in Nursing, experience teaching in a School of Nursing, and a clinical nursing background. Laurel Peterson has her BSN and is the Diabetes Educator.
Education programs are developed after a thorough assessment of participants' needs. Program content and learning methods will be based on the philosophy that all participants are capable of learning. Continuous evaluation is utilized for performance improvement. |Patient education is offered as both an Outpatient and Inpatient service. Education topics may include (but are not limited to) information concerning diagnostic testing, explanation of diagnoses, review of medications, or assistance with understanding treatment options. Contact Education Services for an outpatient appointment. If you are a patient in the hospital, discuss your options for more information with your nurse. ||Community education programs will be developed to meet the needs of the organization. The Education Coordinator may be the liaison between the organization and a specific speaker, or the Coordinator may present a requested program. Presentations include a wide variety of health topics. Contact Education Services for more detailed information. ||Education Services can assist staff members with Continuing Education and development of skills. CPR, ACLS, PALS, and NRP classes are provided on a regular basis, as well as monthly New Hire Orientation and Annual Inservices. The PBDS assessment is also completed for each new Nursing Service employee and independent study modules are available for skill review. |
