Groundskeeper

 

POSITION SUMMARY:   Maintains and cares for hospital grounds to include seeding, trimming, mowing, fertilizing and sodding.  Maintains and operates lawn equipment including tractors, mowers, sprinklers, etc

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Minimum Education:

* High school diploma

 

Minimum Experience:

* Basic knowledge of small machines, lawn care, planting of trees and shrubs, and ability to lay   out an attractive outside appearance.

 

Physical Demands: 

 

* Medium to heavy physical efforts.

 

* Frequent prolonged standing/walking

 

* Often lifts supplies and equipment.

 

* Manual dexterity and mobility.

 

* Frequent reaching/stooping/bending.

 

* Subject to both indoor and outdoor climate exposure.

 

* Subject to large variations in temperature.

 

* Level 4 – pcp (ability to lift 50 lbs. Plus)

 

 

Required protective equipment: 

 

* Depending on the task may include:

 

* Hard Hat

 

* Hearing Protection

 

* Eye Protection

 

* Protective Gloves & Clothing

 

 

Other specialized equipment.

 

 

Vision requirements: 

 

* Ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more.

 

* Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.

 

* Ability to see peripherally.

 

 

Working conditions: 

 

* Subject to interruptions.

 

* Required to work in all areas of the hospital and supporting facilities.

 

* May be required to work long hours in extenuating circumstances.

 

* Frequent pressure due to multiple priorities and deadlines.

 

 

DUTIES OF  A GROUNDS WORKER

 

Maintains operation of hospital equipment.

 

Maintains grass neatly cut and trimmed.

 

Trees and shrubs are neatly trimmed.            

 

Maintains outside area by removing trash and debris.

 

Complies with all safety rules and regulations.

 

Performs routine functions as outline on duty forms.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.
